Department of English Research Team Publishes Scientific Study on Impact of Test Anxiety and Ambiguity Tolerance on EFL Students' Performance

As part of the College of Education at Al-Zahraa University for Women’s ongoing commitment to promoting scientific research and fostering collaboration between faculty members and students, a research team from the Department of English has successfully published a scientific study entitled:

"Investigating the Relationship between Test Anxiety and Ambiguity Tolerance on EFL Learners' Performance in Written Classroom Assessment"

The study was published in the international Journal Integrasi dan Harmoni Inovatif Ilmu-Ilmu Sosial, Volume 6, Issue 3 (2026).

The research team was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Hussien Jawad Abdulridha and included Assistant Lecturer Umulbaneen Alaulddin Salih, Assistant Lecturer Wrood Hashim Altaai, along with students Ruqayay Raad Kadhim, Raneem Hussein Aliwi, and Zainab Ali Adnan Abdul-Hur.

The study investigated the relationship between test anxiety and ambiguity tolerance and their impact on English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students' performance in written classroom assessments. The findings revealed that lower levels of test anxiety and higher levels of ambiguity tolerance contribute positively to students' academic achievement, highlighting the significant role of both psychological and cognitive factors in English language learning.

This achievement reflects the College of Education's dedication to strengthening a culture of scientific research and encouraging meaningful collaboration between faculty members and students, contributing to the preparation of a new generation of researchers capable of advancing knowledge and serving the community.
