The Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Education, Al-Zahraa University for Women, was established in 2018 under Ministerial Order No. (2189) dated 6 December 2018. The department is committed to providing high-quality education and implementing academic accreditation standards to graduate distinguished female students who can contribute effectively to the development of Iraq. The department is chaired by Lect. Dr. Yaseen Mirza Hamza, who supervises both academic and administrative activities to achieve the department’s objectives. The department seeks to promote qualitative and quantitative development in scientific, educational, and cultural knowledge. Additionally, the study system is semester-based and extends over four academic years.

To be distinguished in education, pioneering in scientific research, and recognised as a leading scientific, educational, and professional centre that provides outstanding learning opportunities and consultations, while preparing creative scientific and educational minds capable of meeting the needs of educational institutions and leading scientific and educational development.

The staff of the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Education, Al-Zahraa University for Women, work diligently and continuously to fulfil its vision by undertaking the following: * Providing high-quality, distinguished education. * Generating new and beneficial knowledge through authentic scientific research. * Disseminating scientific culture and addressing educational challenges in Iraqi and Arab schools and educational institutions. * Reproducing new and beneficial scientific knowledge through authorship and translation of authentic human thought. * Preparing and qualifying high-calibre graduates capable of contributing to the service and development of society and responding to the requirements of the contemporary labour market. * Training female students to acquire the scientific and life skills required for work in intermediate and secondary schools and for life in a world facing increasing challenges and problems. * Instilling noble scientific, national, and humanitarian values that respect human dignity regardless of gender, colour, religion, or belief. * Serving the local community beyond the Faculty’s premises by disseminating scientific culture that encourages respect for both intellectual and manual labour and promotes material and spiritual creativity and critical thinking across all areas of life. * Contributing to wealth creation and supporting the Faculty’s and University’s budgets by providing high-quality consultancy and training, addressing issues related to science education and scientific research, and delivering distinguished services to intermediate and secondary schools and other institutions beyond the University’s premises. * Discontinuing the services of any teaching staff member, employee, or worker in the Department who, even after being provided with appropriate training opportunities, is unable to raise their performance to the level required by international quality and academic accreditation standards. * Incorporating learning and teaching technologies into the development of all the Department’s academic and professional programmes and activities and working towards their implementation. * Communicating with counterpart departments at Iraqi, Arab, and non-Arab universities and building bridges of cooperation and exchanging expertise, skills, and experiences. * Developing human capabilities capable of improving performance, engaging with, and responding to contemporary technologies.

Applying the principle of the University serving the community through organising scientific and training courses and seminars for employees of government institutions, as well as facilitating the exchange of consultancy, scientific, and educational expertise. . Establishing the Department as a leading and distinguished entity in supporting research and educational programmes that contribute to the development of scientific and educational capabilities, through the development of a future plan to support research laboratories and educational and teaching centres. . Providing qualified researchers to selected scientific, academic, and military institutions in Iraq to work in their research centres.
