The Department of Special Education at the College of Education, Al-Zahraa University for Women, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a scientific workshop entitled “The Impact of Smart Screens on Children’s Sleep.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Haifa Mahmoud Al-Ashqar, a lecturer in the department, and attended by a number of faculty members and students.
The workshop addressed the effects of excessive use of smart devices on children's sleep duration and patterns, as well as its potential implications for their health, development, and cognitive abilities. It also highlighted the importance of regulating screen time and limiting the use of electronic devices before bedtime.
The workshop emphasized the vital role of families and educational institutions in raising awareness of balanced electronic device usage and promoting healthy habits that ensure children get sufficient sleep and support their proper growth and development.
This activity forms part of the College of Education’s ongoing efforts to promote educational and health awareness and strengthen the role of the Department of Special Education in addressing issues related to children's development, health, and behavior.
