Engineering and Innovation… A Path for the Global South Toward a More Just and Sustainable Future
On the occasion of the International Day of Science, Technology and Innovation for the Global South, observed on September 16, the College of Engineering and Information Technology reaffirms the importance of harnessing science, technology, and innovation to build a more inclusive and equitable future, strengthen the capacity of the Global South to address development challenges, and narrow the gap in access to knowledge and modern technologies.
The College believes that investing in engineering education, scientific research, and digital innovation represents one of the fundamental pillars for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, communications, architecture, and digital technologies. Such investment contributes to preparing a generation of female students capable of transforming scientific knowledge into technological solutions that respond to community needs and support development pathways.
On this occasion, the College of Engineering and Information Technology renews its commitment to fostering an academic environment that encourages creativity, research, and innovation, while strengthening scientific partnerships and knowledge exchange. This commitment also aims to reinforce the role of women in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), contributing to a knowledge- and technology-driven future in which the countries of the Global South are not left behind in the course of global scientific and technological transformation.
