About Department of Special Education
The Department of Special Education at Al-Zahraa University (peace be upon her) was established in the academic year 2023–2024, under the patronage and support of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein. This establishment came in response to the growing need for qualified educational staff specialized in the field of special education.
The department aims to graduate professionally and academically qualified female teachers who are capable of working with individuals with special needs, diagnosing their educational challenges, and providing appropriate educational and instructional programs. This contributes to their effective integration into society and supports the principle of educational equity
The department also seeks to promote ethical and human values, enhance scientific awareness, and support scientific research in the field of special education, in line with modern developments and the needs of the community.

Strategic Goals of the Department
1) Preparing qualified professionals in the field of Special Education who are capable of providing special education and related support services for individuals with disabilities, in order to meet the needs of the labor market in the community.
2) Developing the ability of professionals to diagnose and assess individuals with special educational needs.
3) Training students to conduct scientific research that serves individuals with special educational needs.
4) Cooperating with relevant institutions in this field in a way that enhances community partnership in supporting individuals with special needs.
5) Activating activities such as workshops and continuing education courses to raise awareness and develop the skills of continuing education teachers.
6) Participating in spreading awareness of social problems and issues, their underlying causes, and ways to address and prevent them.
7) Providing a supportive educational environment for faculty members and students in order to achieve educational objectives
